STEM

Information and Communications Technology is a compulsory subject at Nhill College for all students from Foundation through to Year 10.  Students explore a wide range of topics, including how technology works, how we interact with it, and the impacts it has on society.  They are taught how to safely use technology, as well as important skills which will apply well beyond their primary and secondary education.  In Years 9 and 10 students have the option of selecting the Robotics elective, which looks more closely at emerging STEAM technologies, including 3D printing, codable robots, electronic kits, augmented and virtual reality, and drones.  In VCE, students can choose to undertake Applied Computing and Data Analytics, which delve much deeper into programming and the use of data and information. Software Development is also an option via Virtual Schools Victoria.

The College has an IT lab fully fitted with the latest desktop computers.  We also have a dedicated Graphics Lab for digital design and manipulation and a Robotics Lab for work with 3D Printers, codable Lego, Bee-Bots, Spheros, Drones, and other programmable devices.
