School Wide Positive Behaviours Support Program
The School Wide Positive Behaviour Support Program (SWPBS) is designed to bring together school communities to develop positive, safe and supportive learning cultures by helping to foster an environment that assists schools to improve social, emotional, behavioural and academic outcomes for children. As part of the SWPBS program, a rewards system has been developed to encourage students to always show our expectations to:
Be Safe
Be Respectful
Be a Learner
Mascot
Meet our tiger mascot, Nico. Nico was introduced at Nhill
College when we first implementing SWPBS in 2019. Students
designed and voted on the mascot animal and name.
Expected Behaviours
School-wide behaviour expectations provide a framework for staff and students to understand the values, rules and procedures of the school. All students are taught the expected behaviours on our college matrix.
Inappropriate Behaviours
A continuum that is implemented at the college to successfully allow for consistent, respectful and logical consequences in response to inappropriate behaviour.
Behaviour Posters
Behaviour Posters are displayed in all classrooms and many non-classroom settings. This promotes a positive school culture, as well as prompts students, staff and the community of the expected behaviour in the setting.
Rewards Program
Rewards, known as Roarward cards, are issued to students who demonstrate positive expected behaviours at school. Students receiving Roarwards can spend their points at a ‘shop’, go into assembly draws and termly class pizza draws, receive rank cards, and work together as a class to receive experiences.
Roarward Shop
The Roarward Shop is packed full of wonderful items and vouchers, that students can purchase with their Roarward points. Students scan the QR code on their Roarward cards to receive the points. The Roarward Shop opens fortnightly.
