Respectful Relationships
Respectful Relationships is a statewide initiative that supports schools to build a culture of respect, equality and safety across the whole school community.
The initiative extends beyond the classroom to include staffrooms, schoolyards and school events. It recognises that respectful relationships are best supported when positive behaviours are consistently modelled, encouraged and reinforced through everyday interactions.
Respectful Relationships aims to strengthen relationships, support student wellbeing and mental health, and create safe and inclusive learning environments for all.

Our Commitment to Respectful Relationships
Since 2024, Nhill College staff and students have been working together to embed the Respectful Relationships whole-school approach by ensuring that classroom learning is reinforced through respectful attitudes, behaviours and practices across our school community.
Our Statement of Commitment, signed by Principal Mark Zimmermann and School Council President Karen Shurdington on the 10 September 2024, reflects our commitment to creating a future where gender inequality and family violence are not tolerated.

Child Safety and Family Violence Support
At Nhill College, the safety and wellbeing of our students is a priority.
Victoria’s Child Safe Standards help schools create and maintain safe environments where children and young people are protected from harm and abuse. All school staff have an important role in promoting child safety and responding to concerns.
The Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management (MARAM) Framework provides a consistent approach across Victoria to identifying, assessing and responding to family violence. It helps services work together to support the safety and wellbeing of people experiencing family violence.
